EU Projects
ISWA collaborates on a number of EU funded projects, acting as a communication and dissemination partner in consortiums tackling varying issues in and around waste management. With these activities ISWA acts as knowledge multiplier, promoting sustainable waste management according to its mission. ISWA also acts as representative of the waste management industry and conduit to other industrial stakeholders. Please see below for some of active projects.
RECLAIM – AI powered Robotic Material Recovery in a Box
The new circularity project for wood seeks to revolutionise the wood industry by promoting innovation and collaboration to establish a sustainable circular economy. Through the principles of reduce, reuse, recycle and upcycle, we aim to repurpose secondary wood materials, reduce waste, and shrink the environmental impact of construction and demolition as well as furniture industries.

ALMA - Advanced Light Materials and Processes for the Eco-Design of Electric Vehicles
ALMA will develop a novel battery electric vehicle (BEV) structure for a passenger car with 45% weight reduction potential compared to current baseline at affordable costs.
DECOAT - Recycling of coated and painted textile and plastic materials
DECOAT will enable circular use of textiles and plastic parts with (multilayer) ‘coatings’, which are typically not recyclable yet. Novel triggerable smart polymer material systems and the corresponding recycling processes will be developed.
MultiCycle - advanced, sustainable recycling of plastic-based multi-materials
The MultiCycle project is demonstrating advanced and sustainable recycling processes and value chains for plastic-based multi-layer packaging and fibre reinforced automotive components.
ECOBULK - Circular Composite Bulky Products
A project dedicated to demonstrating circular applications for the furniture, automotive and construction industries using composite plastic materials by redesigning the entire chain. The project finished in November 2021.
