Webinar | Action Plan for the Diversion of Organic Waste

The final activity of the CCAC funded project on closing dumpsites in Tyre, Lebanon, was to develop an action plan for the management of organic waste in the region and analyse the potential of diverting organics from landfills. The action plan was developed by ISWA Lebanon in collaboration with ISWA.

The objective of the study was to estimate the impact that the closure of the existing treatment facility has had on the GHG and SLCP emissions generation in the region since 2020 to set up an action plan that can divert major sources of organic waste from ending up in dumpsites through source segregation and subsequently treating the organics, and to ultimately assess the impact of the action plan’s implementation on reducing emission generation.

ISWA Lebanon will hold a webinar on January 27 to present the action plan for the diversion of organic waste in the region. The session will present the outcomes of the study, which will be followed by questions and discussions.
