We are pleased to have Jodie Bricout, circular economy expert and researcher, and Dea (Andrea) Wehrli, e-waste and circular economy specialist and co-founder of E[co]work, joining us.

Jodie and Dea are strong global influencers in circular economy and e-waste. Both have a wealth of knowledge they can share with us all!

Circular Economy Manager at lifecycles and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Adelaide

Jodie is one of Australia’s leading circular economy experts, with two decades’ experience working alongside research, government and industry in Australia, Dubai and Europe.

During her 13 years in France, she helped dozens of businesses seize the benefits of circular approaches; contributed to shaping state, federal and European policy; and collaborated with 100 of the planet’s leading corporates, emerging innovators, governments, cities, and higher learning institutions in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s CE100 program.

Since returning to Australia in 2016, Jodie has engaged with hundreds of professionals to adapt European best practice to the unique needs of our country. She has trained over 200 professionals in circular economy approaches and been engaged by four states, a capital city, two group of 8 universities and corporates big and small to develop circular economy projects and strategies.

Jodie is a sought-after public speaker and facilitator. Her leadership is recognised by her positions on the Board of NSW Circular and the expert advisory group for the Victorian Government’s Circular Economy Business Innovation Centre. Jodie is also a certified Life Cycle Executive and is currently undertaking a PhD on the circular economy at the University of Adelaide.

E-waste - Circular Economy - Solid Waste Management, Co-Founder of E[co]work | G20 Young Global Changer

Dea is Co-Founder and President of Association – Electronic Waste / Informal Sector for the social impact startup E[co]work. E[co]work is a social impact startup that empowers micro-entrepreneurs in the informal waste sector. It bridges the gap between informal dismantlers of e-waste, the legal requirements and sound and safe recycling practices by creating an enabling, safe and affordable work environment based on the concept of co-working spaces and shared infrastructure.

Alongside this, Dea is the Research Associate and Project Manager at Empa, a company focused on ensuring materials and technologies are managed sustainably. She was also the co-founder and director of a zero food waste store in Zurich, Switzerland.

Dea has experience working in e-waste, circular economy, plastics, food waste and marine debris across Europe and Asia. In 2020 she was selected as the Group of 20 (G20) Young Global Changer.
