ISWA is delighted to welcome Sittard-Geleen as our latest Silver Member.

Sittard-Geleen is a municipality in the south-east of the Netherlands bordering both Germany and Belgium. The municipality counts almost 100.000 inhabitants. Known for its coal mining past, the municipality’s economy transitioned into a site for innovative petrochemical industry. The Chemelot Industrial site has set the ambition to become the most sustainable chemical site in Western Europe. On this path, many initiatives emerge involving alternative views on petrochemicals, some of which also involve waste streams. Due to the municipality’s innovative nature, new paths of development are being pursued to become a healthy, innovative, sustainable and collaborative municipality.

ISWA membership is open to individuals and organisations from the scientific community, public institutions and public and private companies from all over the world working in the field or interested in waste management. As the only worldwide waste association with members in 110 countries, ISWA allows you to network with professionals, companies and institutional representatives on a global scale. ISWA’s unique mix of members spans the whole waste sector for the promotion and development of sustainable waste management across the world.
