Engaging Youth, Shaping a Zero Waste Future: Launch of the GWMO 2024 Youth Summary

The virtual event aims to officially launch the English version of the Youth Summary of the Global Waste Management Outlook 2024 (GWMO). This event will provide a platform to showcase youth actions and leadership in waste management, raise awareness about the waste pollution crisis, and draw inspiration for actionable solutions. As part of the event, there will be a panel discussion titled “Youth Actions for Sustainable Solutions to Beat Waste Pollution” This panel will feature 4 youth representatives who will share their insights and experiences in driving technological and innovative solutions to combat waste pollution.

Aligned with the theme of International Youth Day (IYD) 12th of August 2024, which celebrates the transformative power of digitalization in achieving sustainable development, this event will highlight the essential role of young people in addressing global challenges through innovative approaches.

 

 

Objectives

  1. Launch the Youth Summary of GWMO 2024: Introduce the English version of the Youth Summary to a global audience, making the crucial insights and data more accessible to young people worldwide.
  2. Showcase Youth Leadership: Highlight the efforts and innovations of young leaders in waste management, providing them with a platform to share their experiences and inspire others.
  3. Raise Awareness: Discuss the waste pollution crisis in depth, emphasizing the urgency and the need for collective action to address this global challenge.
  4. Encourage Collaborative Solutions: Foster a dialogue among youth, experts and relevant stakeholders to collaborate on sustainable solutions for waste management and promote a circular economy.
