Webinar | #closingdumpsites: why and how?

Join this free regional webinar on April 8th 10:00 – 11:30 AM GMT+8 organised by WMAM, WMRAS & ISWA.

Dumpsites spread pollutants across our atmosphere and our oceans, they damage the health and violate the human rights of the hundreds of millions of people who are living on or around them. More than 750 people died because of poor waste management at dumpsites in the first half of 2016 alone, dumpsites are a global health and environmental emergency.

That is why, closing dumpsites is a top priority of ISWA and through the taskforce we aim to set clear examples of how to close dumpsites in a sustainable manner and offer support and help to countries and cities looking to take the positive step to do so. Such as cover systems that provides a safe, cost-effective, and sustainable solution that overcomes long-standing challenge, including management of soil materials, erosion and sedimentation, and geotechnical instability of soil slopes.

After the landfill is closed, the large space can be beneficially reused for development to provide a clean source of green energy such as solar farm. Join our webinar to find out to sustainably manage dumpsites.
