The Association was born at the end of 2009 from the merger of two historic Italian associations, the Association of Italian Environmental Technicians (ATIA) and the Italian Delegation ISWA Italia (of the International Solid Waste Association), becoming the main point of reference in Italy for sector.

The Association brings together members who operate in the sectors of waste and water management and treatment, reclamation, renewable energy and environmental sustainability in general; freelancers, businesses, research institutes, and large national trade associations. The Association presents itself as a point of excellence in research, study and dissemination of best practices through its bulletins, conferences, seminars and technical and scientific reports.

Furthermore, ATIA-ISWA ITALIA presents itself as a point of reference for public bodies as a source of technical information in the sectors of environmental protection and protection, for the sector of waste management, reclamation and related activities. The members’ will was also to create an entity that it was incisive, influential and a technical and scientific point of reference in Italy, The Association promotes and encourages all initiatives that have the development of sustainable management as their denominator.

We organize seminars, internships and training days for members and bring our contribution to institutional offices in the sectors of technological innovation applied to waste management. Atia Iswa Italia promotes training projects with educational institutions to spread a new and different culture of the environment, to educate and raise awareness of technologies related to energy and waste management and to also offer a training and work orientation service for our young people and associates.
